ScaffPilot / Formwork planning
Formwork planningWall and slab formwork, laid out in 3D.
Formwork is part of ScaffPilot: you give the geometry, ScaffPilot places the formwork parts and counts them – in the same project as your scaffolds. The result is a plan you can discuss, print, export and send to formwork suppliers for a quotation.
In short: in ScaffPilot’s Formwork menu you draw a wall line, follow a building’s walls or draw a slab outline. ScaffPilot generates the formwork from a generic catalogue and counts every part in the material list. The layout is indicative: there is no concrete-pressure or prop-load calculation.
Wall formwork
Draw the wall as a line – one straight run or several with corners – or click a building to follow its walls. Choose one or two sides and give the height and thickness. ScaffPilot generates:
- Panels and fillers on one or both faces, laid out along the wall.
- Inside and outside corners where the wall turns.
- Ties and clamps – ties through the wall, clamps joining the panels.
- Alignment rails and push-pull props to keep the formwork straight and plumb.
- Platform brackets for a working platform, if you want them.
Slab formwork
Draw the slab outline, or click a building to use its outline, and give the soffit height and the slab thickness. ScaffPilot generates:
- Props on a grid under the slab, with prop heads and tripods.
- Primary and secondary H20-type beams – primary beams on the props, secondary beams across them.
- Plywood over the beams, under the concrete.
- Spacings you can edit – the defaults are a starting point, not design values.
A generic system – and every part counted.
The layout uses a manufacturer-neutral catalogue with nominal sizes, marked as generic. Your supplier quotes the same job in its own system.
Material list
Every generated part in its own Formwork group, next to the scaffold parts.
A report and a gear list for the site and the supplier.
CSV
The material list for spreadsheets and purchasing.
IFC
The formwork as an IFC model for the BIM coordinator.
Ask formwork suppliers – straight from the plan.
- Choose formwork in the quotation request – the formwork lines of the material list are preselected.
- Rent, delivery or formwork planning – ask for what the job needs.
- Formwork suppliers only – the request goes to the listed suppliers in the site’s country who supply formwork and offer what you ask for.
- Suppliers quote their own system – the generic layout is translated into the formwork they actually rent out.

What formwork planning does not do
No structural calculation. ScaffPilot does not calculate concrete pressure, pour rates, prop loads or the capacity of panels, ties and beams – the FEM calculation of the Engineer edition is for scaffolds and weather-protection roofs only. The formwork layout is indicative: the formwork supplier or a qualified engineer checks and approves it for the actual pour.
No manufacturer catalogues yet. The parts are generic, with nominal sizes. Suppliers translate the plan into their own formwork system when they quote.
Formwork questions
Is formwork planning included in ScaffPilot Free?
Yes. Wall and slab formwork, the material list and the PDF, CSV and IFC outputs are in every edition, Free included, with no time limit and no credit card.
Does ScaffPilot calculate concrete pressure or prop loads?
No. ScaffPilot generates an indicative formwork layout and material list for planning and quoting. The formwork supplier or a qualified engineer checks the formwork for the actual pour – concrete pressure, pour rate and prop capacity – before it is used.
Which formwork systems does it use?
A generic, manufacturer-neutral system with nominal sizes, so the plan does not tie you to one brand. When you ask for a quotation, each supplier offers its own system for the job.
Who receives my formwork quotation request?
The listed formwork suppliers in the site’s country that offer what you ask for – rent, delivery or formwork planning. You do not have to pick them one by one. Suppliers with ScaffPilot Supplier see who is asking and the full project and can reply to you directly.
Can scaffolds and formwork be in the same project?
Yes. Formwork is part of ScaffPilot: walls, slabs and scaffolds are in the same project and the same cloud file, the formwork has its own group in the material list and goes into the same IFC export.
